Aging

The  tendency of some steels to change in physical properties on long standing at  room temperature. The change is usually accompanied by an increase in  hardness, yield and tensile strength, and a decrease in ductility and impact.  Aging is also accelerated by exposure of steel to elevated temperatures.  Stretcher strains and fluting can result from aging.
